Barium Chloride

ProChem Inc. is a supplier of Barium Chloride Dihydrate Crsytalline, Barium Chloride Solution, Barium Chloride Anhydrous; Barium Hydroxide Octahydrate; Barium Hydroxide Monohydrate. See the analysis reports and packaging information below.

Barium Chloride is the inorganic compound with the formula BaCl2. It is one of the most common water-soluble salts of barium. Like other barium salts, it is toxic and imparts a yellow-green coloration to a flame. It is also hygroscopic.

Industrial Uses

Barium Chloride Dihydrate is used in the treatment of wastewater, sulfate removal, the production of PVC stabilizers, oil lubricants, barium chromate and barium fluoride.

In the industry, barium chloride is mainly used in the purification of the brine solution in caustic chlorine plants and also in the manufacturing of heat treatment salts, steel hardening, pigment manufacturing and in the manufacture of other salts of barium. Moroever, as an inexpensive, soluble salt of barium, barium chloride finds wide application in the laboratory. It is commonly used as a test for sulfate ion.

barium chloride is also used in fireworks to give a bright green color. However, its toxicity limits its applicability.

Packaging and Handling

  • Barium Chloride 24% liquid is packed in non-returnable drums, returnable and non-returnable IBC's and in bulk.
  • Barium Chloride Dihydrate crystal is packed in non-returnable 5 gallon pails, non-returnable fiber drums, or non-returnable super-sacs.
  • Improper handling of this product can result in serious injuries to workers due to its toxicity.
